The Paperblanks Fiammetta Ultra Lined Journal offers a generous writing layout in the Ultra format, measuring 175mm in width, 230mm in height and 18mm in depth. It includes 144 lined pages crafted from luxurious 120gsm custom designed laid paper, providing 25 lines per page with an 8.11mm spacing for a smooth, refined writing experience. Ideal for journaling, creative writing or note taking, the journal’s premium paper is FSC-certified, acid free and suited for everyday use.

This edition features a sturdy hardcover with decorative printed cover paper and 100% recycled binder boards. The Smyth sewn binding allows the journal to open flat, making writing comfortable across its pages. Additional features include an elastic band closure, edge printing for a premium finish, a memento pouch for storing loose papers and one ribbon marker for easy page saving.

The Fiammetta design draws inspiration from a sumptuous 1725 French binding of Giovanni Boccaccio’s The Decameron, one of the foundational works of Italian literature. Boccaccio, a key figure of Renaissance humanism, wrote in the Tuscan vernacular, elevating everyday language to literary status and influencing generations of writers. The Decameron, composed after the devastations of the Black Death, is a collection of 100 tales exploring love, wit, tragedy and human resilience through the voices of ten characters seeking refuge from the plague.

The original 18th century binding, now held at the Musée Condé in Chantilly, features rich red tones adorned with gilt floral motifs and elaborate arabesques. This striking, sensual Baroque style forms the basis of the Fiammetta cover design, named after one of the novel’s central figures. The combination of vivid colour and ornate patterning evokes passion, imagination and artistic splendour.
